So beautiful, this. And so true. And I'm a million years older than you, but I still want all of what you said so eloquently! Shine on, you and your diamond.

Reminds me of that painting of MS Subbulakshmi by MF Hussain where her nose stud, earring and ring seems to outdazzle her feature so much that only her brows, Bindi and her lips are visible. Yes Diamonds do turn you into the light they reflect. Enjoyed reading. I have the time, I do have the time is a privilege I will wish for everybody. There are countries whose people live like that. There are places where happiness index go up on the priority list than GDP. Where the world is without time and money is not its King and where we can actually sip our tea not as fuel but as welcome drink to our serenity sphere. Is that too much? Indeed it is too much like a world without borders, bordering to naivety. I will go with you though. Forget about changing the world, I can go slow. I have all the time...I do have the time. It's a nice chant, like an affirmation😃

Yay. I LOVE MS and her jewellery. I try not to say I don't have the time as much as possible these days whenever it's my impulse to do so. I want to stop thinking it as well.

Love it. I felt happy you bought yourself the diamond. I have begun to buy gold and diamonds to mark important stages in life, for reasons to do with the nature of these precious elements (metamorphised, as you mention, under extreme pressure, in the case of diamond). Reading your essay I also felt thankful that i could take the path to where I have time, all the time for just being. It was a very careful, planned choice, and yet, the world around sometimes makes me feel "useless" for making this choice.

I'm happy for you! I've learnt that no choice is ever free of judgement from the world. I'm glad you were able to make it.

So there's another side to it, "I am swamped/don't have time" is a great excuse to say no and not add more things to your already full plate. I use it a lot at work and for declining social calls that I am not in the mood for. I am just not cool enough to just say "I don't want to come for your birthday drinks," for example!
